Youth tennis camp being held at Grossmont College

The Fletcher Hills Tennis Camp for youths aged 6 to 19 years old is being held this summer at Grossmont College.

The camp directors are Nathan Welden, a USPTA pro, Grossmont High School boy's coach and West Hills High School girl's coach, and Megan Haber, women's tennis head coach at Grossmont College, along with teacher Steve Thom, a USPTA pro.

Students will be grouped by age and skill level, with developmental drills, group games, stroke analysis and match play and weekly tournaments. Daily prizes and weekly grand prizes will be awarded, and each student will receive a camp T-shirt, healthy snacks and water.

Camp is held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, with an optional free swim between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Students are asked to bring a tennis racket, water bottle, hat or visor, swimming attire and a towel, a good attitude and a smile.

Cost of the camp is $39 per day or $119 per week. Sessions will be held July 9-12, July 16-19, July 23-26 and July 30-Aug. 2.
